Workshop Lørdag 6.november kl 13:30-15:00 på NTS

Clay and the art and ecology of the human body

Is the human body apart from, or a part of, the environment. When we drink a glass of water, the water as part of what is outside of us, becomes part of us. For millennia, humans have touched the earth, the soil, put their hands in the clay. "And The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being." (Genesis 2:7). The Hebrew for man is pronounced aw-dawm, from which Adam is derived. It's also related to aw-dawm-ah, which means red earth, or red clay - indicating the natural earth elements that composed Adam's body, and the body of every human being since.

In this workshop, we will form a mini version of our own seated body, using just our fingers, a lump of clay and our attentive awareness from behind closed eyes. The session lasts one and a half hour. Jan van Boeckel, art teacher and researcher at Aalto university in Helsink, is the facilitator of the workshop. All materials will be provided.

The Art of Peace begins with you. Work on yourself and your appointed task in the Art of Peace. Everyone has a spirit that can be refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to follow. You are here for no other purpose than to realize your inner divinity and manifest your innate enlightenment. Foster peace in your own life and then apply the Art to all that you encounter.
